Pin-Up Girls

Olive Thomas by Alberto Vargas

Hello everyone, today I’m going to write about pin-up. May be you can ask yourself what is pin-up or Isn’t that pornography? Well, I’m going to tell you a little of this, and what really is.
A pin-up is a photograph or another kind of illustrations  of a girl in a suggestive attitude or just a girl with a smile,  saying hello or looking to the camera. This images appear in the cover of magazines, comic-books or calendars. The models of this works are called pin-up girls.

The pin-up and pin-up girls exist from the end of the XIX century, but the time when it takes more popularity, was in the 1920’s. In those time pin-up girls devoted their careers to pin-up, it was their full-time work. Nowadays, they are photography models, actress or singers, without been full-time pin-up girls.

I’d like pin-up because of the aesthetic that had. By example, the illustrations of Alberto Vargas are soft and delicate but with a touch of the erotic and mysterious of women.

Marilyn Monroe
Betty Page
My favorite pin-up models are Marilyn Monroe and Betty Page. Both became pin-up girls in the 1950’s and they represent, in my opinion, opposite poles of woman archetype. In one side we have Marilyn, the sexy and coquette blonde, a little inocent. And by the the other side is Betty,black-haired  is also sexy but at the same time very erotic and domineering.

Pulp Fiction

Hello Classmates!

Today I’m going to write about one of my favorites movies: Pulp Fiction.

I’d like this movie because is an uncommon movie that go out of the classical filmmaking. The idea of Tarantino of make a nonlinear movie, I think is great. The soundtrack also is one of the best I ever heard.

The film was nominated for seven Oscars, including Best Picture; Tarantino won for Best Original Screenplay. It was also awarded the Palme d'Or at the 1994 Cannes Film Festival.

Pulp Fiction is a 1994 film directed by Quentin Tarantino. The film is known for its eclectic dialogue, ironic mix of humor and violence, nonlinear storyline, and its cinematic references to pop culture.

Pulp Fiction joins the intersecting storylines of Los Angeles mobsters, fringe players, small-time criminals, and a mysterious briefcase.

Pulp Fiction have been the inspiration for many later movies that adopted various elements of its style. Considered a cultural watershed, Pulp Fiction's influence has been felt in several other media.

I’m going to left you a funny flash called “Pulp Fiction in 30 seconds”, is a flash of the movie, acted by bunnies. I hope you like it.

Carl Gustav Jung

Carl Gustav Jung was a swiss psychiatrist, psychologist, and essayist. Central figure in the initial stage of psychoanalysis, and after that, founder of the analytical psychology.

Carl Jung was a begginer in the deep psychology, and one most read author in of this area in the XX century. His theoretical  and clinical  approach emphasized the functional conection between the structure and material manifestations of the psique.  This encouraged him to include on his methodology  concepts from philosophy, alchemy, astrology, and sociology, as well as literature and the arts.

On of the contributions of Carl Jung to Psychology it is related with the distinction between the individual unconscious and the ‘collective unconscious’, that according to him, contain feelings, thoughts and memories that conditioned each subject ( from his birth and not by learned influence). The collective unconscious would contain ‘archetypes’, primitive and essential images that we ues in situations like confronting death or the partner choosing and manifestate en the cultural elements like religion, myths, fairy tales and other popular legends.

Carl Gustav Jung comes to my life thanks to my mother, she reads a lot of books about psychology, philosophy and literature, so in tha way she told me about Jung and how I’m studding psychology I began to read about him too.

He wrote numerous book, specially about the analytical methods and the relations between psycotherapy and religious beliefs.
